This information is provided by the candidate

John Shanley's candidacy will be based on honesty, integrity, independence, accountability, and, of course, hard work.

Honesty & Integrity: John Shanley comes from a working-class Sunset family. His parents immigrated to the United States in the 1950's and instilled in John an honorable set of values, based on a simple principle: hard work will be good work if you do what is right.

Independence: John Shanley is not supported by a political machine, did not inherit his candidacy, and he is not a newcomer to our neighborhood. He won't need a political consultant to tell him what is important to you - he'll ask you, as he has always done.

John Shanley can claim independence from the Mayor and current Board members. He will work towards a rational consensus on the Board, but he will NOT vote for an issue simply because the Mayor or other Board members are voting for it. He will not sell Sunset/Parkside residents short by horse-trading future favors for political endorsements today, or any day.

John Shanley plans to model his Independence after one of his first mentors, former State Senator Quentin Kopp. Kopp was often the lone voice of reason for much of the City's business, and John will mold his independent approach after Quentin Kopp's very effective model. That means: sticking to your guns on behalf of the Sunset/Parkside residents.

Accountability: John Shanley is the ONLY District 4 candidate with a plan to guarantee accountability to YOU - the Sunset/Parkside District voter: John Shanley commits to regularly scheduled Town Hall meetings with his constituents, scheduled at convenient times and locations. John Shanley will commit to allowing YOU to evaluate his performance - in front of the neighborhood - at each of these meetings.

John Shanley commits to enhance his website, using it after the election to keep Sunset/Parkside residents informed on City business and let residents provide direct feedback to John Shanley on a real-time basis.
