I have lived in Alameda for 24 years - it's wonderfully unique. Since 1984, my husband Andrew and I have established, owned and operated Webster House Bed & Breakfast Inn on Versailles Avenue. Alameda's oldest historical landmark. An accountant by trade, I have worked in real estate, with legal counsel, and for various financial corporations. I have been active in issues involving quality of life, business development, and historic preservation, for many years, together with my husband a licensed general contractor. As Chair of the Mayor's Sesquicentennial Committee for the City of Alameda, we developed a theme "Discovery of Gold to Golden Technology" and started a successful fundraising effort for "Computers for Kids" for the Alameda Unified School District. I believe Alameda is facing critical issues - base redevelopment, controlled growth, re:evaluation of spending criteria, housing needs especially for seniors, voter participation in tax and fee issues, and promotion of local business patronage. As a business owner trying to develop an historic property, my experiences with Alameda's government led me to believe I can contribute to the revitalization of Alameda. I would like to participate in Alameda's sound and responsible decision making and represent you - the citizens. I respectfully request your support. Susan Maureen McCormack |
