To Grow Or Not To Grow... That is the QuestionBy R. K. "Skip" DaumCandidate for State Senator; District 1 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
We're growing... but where and how?The territory in the first senate district is immense and thousands of people move into it every month. What is irrefutable is that we have more people, more affordable housing needs, more commercial enterprises, and more demands on the existing infrastructure. We also have environmental issues and interests that complicate the growth question... where and how should we accomodate these increasing demands? I believe in a balanced approach simply because it's fair and scientifically possible. We all live or work in, perhaps own property in, and enjoy the areas in question. However, it's not right for only one side to determine how it will be utilized or preserved. It's imperative that we arrive at a consensus on this "lasting decision." I will strenuously work toward bringing about a solution by including ALL interested parties, evaluating the scientific data, the relevant legal issues, the logic and rationale of those who are interested in this issue, and we'd examine the long term impact. Continuous litigation is wasteful and must be avoided. Starting from the center, I would weigh all sides of this issue in order to balance the needs and desires of our citizens and our natural resources. |
