Political Philosophy for Ed Foglia
Candidate for |

I am a moderate Democrat who is compassionate on the social issues and conservative on fiscal responsibility. As a candidate my campaign is in keeping with the same philosophy of being compassionate advocate on the issues and fiscally reponsibile on campaign expeditures. When this campaign began, both my opponent and I started out with a similiar position. We both signed a Form 470 that limited the candidate from raising and spenting $1,000 for the entire campaign. I paid $250 for a ballot statement that appears in your Voter brochure. My opponent did not even bother to file a ballot statement to share his views. After I formally declared that I would not spend more than $1000 on this election, my opponent quietly filed paperwork to allow himself to take large donations and turn this community election into a big-money race. I did not follow his lead and have continued to refuse any financial support from any individual or group. He has accepted special interests contributions and are underwriting a major portion of his campaign. To date I have spent less than $800 of my own money. I am not beholden to any special interest group or individual. I have tremendous support from elected leaders, community activists and volunteers, homeowners, business, agricultural and working people. I will continue to work on the issues in a collaborative environment with integrity, understanding, mutual respect and acceptance of all parties interest. We have many candidates talking about election reform and campaign financing. My candidacy is living proof that a candidate can win an election on merit and does not need dollars doled out by special interests. |
