Candidate for
Mayor; City of Bakersfield

Born in Torrance, CA, Shane Stahl moved to the City of Bakersfield in the summer of 1989. Mr. Stahl then attended both Curran Junior High, where he received the American Legion School Award, and West High School, where he was a member of the Viking Regiment, Speech and Debate Team as well as the West High School Chamber Chorale.

Currently, Mr. Stahl is enrolled at Bakersfield Community College and is serving his final year on the Renegade Speech and Debate Squad.

Since his high school years, Shane has been an avid activist within the community. Speaking out against school violence, misrepresentation of students needs, and other such issues.

As he entered the working world, Shane served a two year service for the Corporation for National Service. Most recently, he has spoken out against discrimination and violence at Kern County Human Relations Commission hearings and with the organization of the Candle Light Vigil for Matthew Sheppard. Additionally, Mr. Stahl is a supporter of the Bakersfield AIDS Project, Bethany Services, American Red Cross, American Cancer Society and the KCEOC Food Bank.

Mr. Stahl hopes to bring new perspectives and a fresh voice to the community of Bakersfield. Included in his list of campaign issues is: Increased services for Bakersfield's low and no-income communities, increased services for victims of domestic violence, improvements in the East Bakersfield area including a new Sherrif's sub-station and improvements in lighting public streets.
