Candidate for Mayor; City of Bakersfield

PAY TEACHERS WHAT THEY DESERVE......
Robert Russo has a simple philosophy: PAY TEACHERS WHAT THEY DESERVE. He believes that the inadequacies in salary have lasted far too long. PAY TEACHERS MORE!!! Raising the pay scale for teachers will have a snowball effect on our community. Higher salaries not only attract the best available teachers today, but will also inspire citizens to acquire teaching credentials and use this education to help our children. "Far too many people attend school, get a teaching credential, and then move into a field that pays what they are worth," says Robert. Offering teachers more money up-front will entice those who obtain credentials to remain in the field of education.
Another area that needs concentration is family participation. Far too many families leave the education of their children up to the teachers and the schools. They expect children to learn everything inside the walls of an educational institution. For our kids to succeed in school, this attitude must be modified. Partnerships between teachers and parents must be stronger, and we must bridge the gap that has been created over the past five years.
Finally, Robert believes in the educational plan now started by Gray Davis. Total support in the educational system is the only way to ensure our success, its longevity, and success in Bakersfield future. A strong and reputable education system will help attract business that we want in our community in the future.
