Brisbane has been my home for close to a decade now and its interests have become my own. I cherish its small-town character and strong community sensibility. Coming from a large refugee family with strong communal values, I experienced firsthand the importance of interdependence and collaboration. Indeed, I would not be here but for the unfailing support of family and community. Past experience has instilled in me an unwavering passion for and a keen commitment to public service as my way of giving back. As a Brisbanian, I have been an engaged community member, planning commissioner and chair, wife, mother, and legal professional. Having lived in Central Brisbane and at the Ridge, I have enjoyed many amenities in our town. Among them, some of my most cherished memories are of my two sons playing ball at our neighborhood park, hunting for eggs at MOB and Brisbane Lions' Easter events, becoming adept swimmers at our community pool, and scrambling happily along the trails of our town's very own local treasure: the San Bruno Mountains. Naturally, continued enjoyment of these community benefits requires earnest and steadfast stewardship of our town's values; values I have upheld during my tenure and service as a Planning Commissioner and Chair. Reviewing case studies and proposals, taking public testimony, developing and recommending zoning regulations, taking action on land use applications, and making recommendations to the City Council regarding the City's General Plan, the Draft and Final Environmental Impact Reports for the Baylands, and the Housing Element are actions that have profound impact on the physical, social, and economic development of our city. Completing these tasks requires vigilant data analysis and mindful conscientious scrutiny of multiple interests in order to strike an optimal balance that serves the People, the Place, and the Public.
