We have terrific schools, but need to work creatively to keep them that way. The decisions we make, as a community, in the next years will set the course for our schools in the next decade. I look forward to that process. I care deeply about our schools and community. As a parent of two children in the District, I have been involved in our schools on a daily basis. I am the former Chairperson of the Dixie Elementary School Site Council and I was a community member participant for the new Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) recently adopted by the District. I am a long time member of the Executive Board of the Home & School Club, and I am the current Co-President. I manage the school Diner at Dixie Elementary. I have always been an active participant in our classrooms as a room parent and instructional volunteer. I am involved in our greater community as a member of the board of the Dixie Youth Soccer Association and Vice-President of my local neighborhood association. I am a former teacher and ongoing volunteer at the Marinwood Preschool. My academic credentials include a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a J.D. from the University of California Hastings College of the Law. If elected: 1. I will ensure we support our teachers and educators to be at their best -- by providing them with professional development, supplies and the best resources; 2. I will monitor district growth and diligently plan to ensure that both new and existing students continue to receive a top-notch education; 3. I will support curriculum and instruction efforts that help each child reach their highest academic, social, emotional, and physical potential; 4. I will improve communication efforts; and 5. I will ensure we have a sound, long-term revenue plan. I am grateful to be endorsed by the Marin Independent Journal, Marin County Supervisor Damon Connolly, San Rafael Mayor Gary O. Phillips, Marin County Board of Education Member Patricia Garbarino and many other community leaders, parents & neighbors. I welcome your support as well. |
