This information is provided by the candidate

It has been an honor to serve as your Councilmember for the last four years. I have truly enjoyed representing the residents and businesses in the City of Hawthorne, and I am proud of the work I've been able to accomplish. Now, I look forward to serving our great city for four more years.

The outlook for Hawthorne is bright, but we need the right leadership and experience to grow upon our successes. And I believe I am the best-qualified candidate for City Council.

As a long-time President of my neighborhood homeowner association, I fought along side of you to preserve our neighborhoods and communities. As an attorney with the FAA and a member of the LAX Airport Advisory Committee, I have vital experience working to improve airports like the Hawthorne Airport. I have supported the growth and beautification of the Hawthorne Airport which is an important source economic growth for the City.

I have been a leader in the City and have worked with the Hawthorne Chamber of Commerce. Together we fight to create new initiatives concerning economic development, including a business incentive program, to bring good-paying jobs to Hawthorne. I have been a homeowner and lived in Hawthorne for 11 years. I chose Hawthorne as my home, and I have a vested interest in making it a better place to live, to raise a family and to do business.

I have been actively engaged in the following and will continue to be so, in my next term as your City Councilmember:

- Strengthening Public Safety and other City Services. I am particularly proud of the Shopping Center Security Plan, which was enacted as a result of my directive, and which requires a security plan in new shopping centers.
- Bringing Economic Development by revitalizing neighborhoods. The ordinance which allows outdoor dining to increase restaurant business was a result of my efforts. Likewise we created an art community in Hawthorne by recruiting galleries.
- Attracting quality businesses that bring new, good-paying jobs. I supported providing business incentives to encourage new businesses and to stabilize existing businesses.
- Modernizing our aging infrastructure and resolving our traffic problems. I supported the creative use of Measure R funds by the Public Works.
- Balancing our budget and keeping our local government transparent

In my next term as your City Councilmember, I will also be involved in the following:

- Bringing our information technology into the 21st Century
- Protecting our neighborhoods from over development
- Promoting affordable programs for seniors and children
- Improving Heal Care Delivery To accomplish all of these things will not be easy. But, with your support and involvement, we can do it!

If you have any questions or ideas, please feel free to email me at info@valentineforcouncil.com or call me directly at (424) 250-0136.
