Issues / Positions

Financial

With or without bond measures or changes in state allocations, the District must be accountable to the community it serves.

Maintaining adequate reserves above minimum standards should be the foundation for fiscal responsibility. The financial crisis of recent years has caused some serious changes in policy and programs to match what the District receives to Student and Classroom needs.

This has not been simple but the Board and District have worked with our Teachers and Classified Unions to ensure the classrooms were impacted as little as possible. Monetary and physical resources should be distributed as evenly possible to all campuses in the District.

Facilities

Modernization and renovation is a key component in District objectives every year. Our schools need regular review that we are providing adequate classroom space, updated technology, electrical, heating and cooling systems and laboratory equipment for updated science curriculums.

Castaic High School

Castaic High School has been in the planning stages for upwards of 20 years. After an exhaustive search that followed multiple sites being removed from consideration for different reasons, the William S. Hart Board selected a site and developer in July 2010 to begin work on the new school.

Grading of the site is nearing completion; it is one of the largest dirt movement of any County project.

As a Board Member who committed to delivering this school with the passing of Measure SA, we will do what it takes to get this school built and ready to handle our student needs well into the future.

Common Core + Federal and State Requirements

Educational Testing and Measurements are in the beginning of new, critical thinking teaching patterns and testing devices.

Technology plays a significant role in student academic success for the future. We need to continue to improve the communication between our Elementary, Middle and High School programs in this valley to help them achieve desired academic results.

We are always responsible to them by providing the learning opportunities to become independent, self-supporting adults after the educational years are over.

Career Technical Education

We must partner with business to ensure that the student we deliver to the community at large is what is needed for them to be successful.

The world is getting smaller, technology changes faster and our children deserve proper direction and guidance by the leaders of today to ensure they can meet the challenges of tomorrow because we have provided them the tools to do so.

The 21st Century is here and your children are our future.

The Career Pathways that the Hart District does and will provide can be a significant stepping stone for their personal business and employment goals.
