Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District

I am a native of Southern California having grown up in Garden Grove. After attending college my husband and I looked to buy a house in the best school district we could afford. We were living in Playa del Rey and I thought Palos Verdes was pretty far off the beaten track. The amazing school system clinched the deal. Living in Palos Verdes this past 22 years has been a blessing.

Volunteering and giving back are second nature to me. While studying business and computer science at USC, I was trained to be a volunteer reading tutor; helping adults and children become better readers has been my life's passion. I continue to help children with reading and direct an office where tutors help students with all academic subjects.

Raising and educating three children in Palos Verdes has provided me with a wealth of experience about our school district. My children attend or attended Mira Catalina Elementary, Miraleste Intermediate, Palos Verdes and Peninsula High School. I have been an active member of the PTA in our schools for over 14 years including three years as EVP and President at Mira Catalina. I love this community and will work diligently to ensure that our schools remain among the top in the nation.

• Improve district communication with parents and community
• Ensure curriculum changes challenge our students to their highest abilities
• Work with district leadership to utilize current funding more effectively
