Terry's Qualifications

Terry is VERY qualified to be your representative on the TUSD School Board. She knows our Torrance Schools and Community.

She comes from a family of teachers: Mom, Aunt, Grandmother, and was a college instructor herself.

She has been a member of the Torrance community for 28 years, and married 33 yrs to psychiatrist Dr. Mark.

She is invested in making Torrance schools the best that they can be--she knows the schools, the students, the teachers, the staff, and the history of the past 23 years.

She has logged 15,000 hours of volunteer time in schools, PTAs, TUSD district committees, etc., and continues her work to this day. She belongs to every PTA in town and has regular contact with community and residents in and around each school. She currently serves as Council Auditor for Torrance Council of PTAs and as such meets with PTA leaders from all schools each month.

She was always actively involved in educations of her two sons, both graduates college now! Kyle recently graduated from Medical School...another Doctor in the family.

She has volunteered in and around Torrance schools since 1992, in PTA and school-based programs in Art, Enrichment, GATE, Health, Library, Literacy, Prevention, and Safety, Academic Decathlon, Odyssey of the Mind, etc. See attached bio for full details.

PTAs have honored Terry with 3 Honorary Service Awards over her 23 years of volunteer involvements; Yukon ES, Magruder MS, Torrance Council of PTAs.

Terry has learned MUCH over her 12 years of experience on the school board, about Torrance, its schools, and the world of education. This experience will be of service to her and to Torrance as she leads our schools into a productive future, meeting the educational needs of our Torrance students.
