Why I am running for City Council

I will be a champion of Economic Development Financial Controls
The path to Economic Development in Hawthorne is thru developing a reputation of being business friendly. It is time we take a proactive approach to reaching out to and attracting new businesses to our wonderful city. As Councilman, I will be an advocate of small business, and personally seek out a business incubator, work to attract businesses form Silicon Beach, and create incentives to bring entrepreneurs to Hawthorne. Developing our Blvd needs to be our first priority. This can be done by creating a business improvement district and supporting remodeling of the store fronts on Hawthorne blvd.

The second I will focus is bringing stability to our finances. As City Treasurer I have identified numerous ways we can create stronger controls on our finances and prevent mis-management. We must institute the proper separation of duties in how our cash is handled. The City Treasurer's office must be empowered carry out all of his duties, including the safekeeping of the City's funds, and the reporting of our cash balances to the City council on a monthly bases. Proper Controls, Separation of Duties, and Reporting is what our city needs.
