As a lifelong resident of Pico Rivera and an educator for 30 years my goals are to advance and transform the school district with a focus on what students need today to acquire the skills necessary to achieve tomorrow's careers. We need schools that foster innovation that offer new modalities in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.

Our schools must have an environment and climate that is safe and conducive to learning, where students can work collaboratively and unlock their creative thinking.

I will bring my years of experience and proven leadership to raise the bar for the School Board and hold it to a higher standard. The School Board had done many things right and the tide is turning; we are at the tipping point where, in the words of Jim Collins, we can move the district from Good to Great to Excellent. We have the talent in the district with teachers and staff and with responsible fiscal management I will prioritize and allocate resources where they are needed most beginning with compensation for teachers and classified staff that is equitable to the surrounding districts.

My involvement with the Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee and my return to the district afforded me the opportunity to see where the challenges lie. I am in a unique position since my retirement to dedicate and allocate my time entirely to this task. Some of the qualities that set me ahead of other candidates are the countywide experience I bring in the full spectrum of education PreK-12th grade, also the panoramic understanding of all facets in education from the 16 years I worked at the Los Angeles County Office of Education.
