LETTER TO VOTERS

First let me begin by stating that it has truly been an honor and a privilege for me to serve you as a councilmember and Mayor over the course of the last almost 4 years! I am humbled and thankful for the opportunity to be intimately involved in the decision making process and truly make a difference for the betterment of our wonderful city. This includes dealing with very large, macro, citywide issues and even more so, dealing with the smaller issues that don't necessarily affect the city of large but are/were very important in the day-to-day lives of the residents who had a specific problem or needed help in some way.

I believe we are in a critical time with respect to our city's governance and setting the roadmap for the future. We have a new City Manager, a new Deputy City Manager, a new City Attorney, and many new Staff members with fairly short tenures. Providing direction to Staff through the council policy making process will play a critical role in continuing to shape the direction of RPV for many years to come. Setting the proper priorities and making sound financial decisions are vital to the future of RPV. Whoever is elected will play a critical role in continuing to ensure that the vision of our City Founders remains a reality.

As I stated when I first ran for Council, I'm running because I love this city, not only because I was raised in RPV but because this is where my wife and I decided we want to raise our family and grow old together. I, like you, care deeply about our city and am passionate about its future! My parents instilled in me the concept of public service - the practice of getting involved, proactively giving back to the community and being part of the solution. This ideal was further reinforced during my time at the United States Air Force Academy where one of our primary credos was "Service Before Self."

I believe that with my experience on Council, education, military training and background, 28 years of business experience in the financial sector and expertise in financial/regulatory/compliance matters, I offer an exceptional skill set, knowledge and point of view that will bring a unique and much needed perspective to City Hall.

I understand that my job as a councilmember is to work for all of the residents of this exceptional city. I am neither a veteran politician nor am I beholden to any individual, organization or special interest group. With your support, I will be accountable only to you - the citizens of RPV. I pledge to always be open-minded, well informed, prepared, fair, and professional when conducting the city's business, I will always speak the truth, I will listen to all viewpoints and treat every individual with respect and fairness.

There is much to be done. Together we can make Rancho Palos Verdes the best it can be! I respectfully ask for your vote on November 3rd!
