Political Philosophy for Jay Chen
Candidate for |

|
There's no room for politics when it comes to the essential responsibility of educating our children. Education is the bedrock of our nation and I want to ensure that every child in the San Gabriel Valley who wants a college education can achieve it. As a proud product of Hacienda La Puente Schools, I know the importance of Mt. SAC to our community. 30% of our graduates enroll at Mt. SAC, making it the #1 destination for our students. We need to accommodate the needs of our students while accounting for the impact it has on our neighbors, such as Walnut. I support innovative ways to reduce congestion around Mt. SAC by offering satellite courses and improving our public transit system. But most importantly we need to ensure that a 2-year degree really only takes 2 years. Far too many students have trouble enrolling in classes at Mt. SAC. We must invest in our teaching and reduce bottlenecks that discourage students from pursuing their education. Every student deserves a great education, whether it's an associates degree, a certificate, or a bachelors degree. I want to help make that happen for them. |
