Margaret Evans is a candidate for Inglewood School Board Seat 4

The board is in need of an educator who understands what it is to be a teacher and school administrator who has had to interact with students, teachers, parents, and staff while making decisions that affect all of them. She was a junior high and high school classroom teacher for more than 20 years. She served as assistant principal at Palisades Charter High School for 13 years until retirement in 2008. Last year LAUSD called her out of retirement to serve as interim principal at a high school for 3 months for a principal who was on sick leave. It was an experience to see how much things had changed since retirement in 2008 and how much they had remained the same. Common Core was the new educational program with which she had to quickly become familiar. Approving payroll and budgets were new tasks that she acquired. Child Abuse reporting, testing, student discipline and parent/teacher conferences were familiar tasks from previous days. All of these experiences add to the knowledge that will be needed as a board member.
