Making California Business FriendlyBy Louis L. DominguezCandidate for State Senator; District 35 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
We are hemorrhaging jobs in this state. Every week we here of some company moving to Texas or Nevada or elsewhereTwo months ago Tesla decided to build a new battery plant in Nevada. The state legislature had the chance to get that factory here, but they delayed passing legislation that would have provided the incentives to keep it here. The governor of Nevada called his legislators into special session and they passed a bill in one day. We have seen every candidate at every level promise to bring "good jobs to our district", only we never see them. Rather I have watched thousands of jobs leave this district without any taking their place. We have allowed not just jobs but technical know-how to leave our shores. We have some of the finest universities in the world with some of the best minds. We must start encouraging them to start innovating once more to provide the jobs that will be cutting edge in the next decade(s). Part of this means not raising tuition but to find means that those qualified are able to take full advantage of our institutions of higher learning. This is not a cost to our state but an investment in our future. |
