Limiting Federal Programs And Spending To Sustainable Levels.By Joseph R. "Joe" PittsCandidate for US Representative; Pennsylvania Congressional District; District 16 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Politicians love to be all things to all people. But that gets expensive after awhile, and we are now $17 trillion in debt. The government, like everyone else, needs to live within its means. The reason Washington spends so much money is that nothing makes politicians look more effective than spending more money on new programs. For example, the price tag for all of the new proposals listed in the President's last State of the Union Address was $40 billion. Constant pressure on the government to do more has put us on the verge of a crisis. Washington is legally committed to spend more than $200 trillion over the next 75 years that it has no plan to pay for. We need a government that is humble enough to know its limits. We need a government that is wise enough to say "no" to the endless pressure from lobbyists seeking more programs and spending. |
