Karen Chellew, CEO and founder of Sisters U a nonprofit organization, holds the position of Business Manager and Firm Administrator at Weber, Kracht & Chellew in the 145th District of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Karen has worked at the law firm for the past 27 years with only a brief time away to care for her young children. Karen served on the Board of the Independence Chapter of the Association of Legal Administration. She is also an affiliate member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. Full-time working wife, grandmother, mother of three, and avid community service advocate, Karen spends her time finding balance between work, family, and her passion for community service. Karen's ambitions have led her to direct Kid's Voting for Deibler Elementary School in the Pennridge School District from (2011-2013), assist and teach the TerraCyle afterschool program at Deibler Elementary (2013), and manage the Perkasie Springfest 5k (2012-2013). In addition Karen enjoys running and has been a participant in the Race Judicata for the past five years and The Travis Manion Run for the past three. After graduating from college in 1986, Karen began work at Weber & Abarbanel as a Legal Secretary spending time learning the nuances of each subsequent role to gain the experience necessary to take on the responsibilities of Business Manager and Firm Administrator in 2009. As the Business Manager, Karen is responsible to manage the business side of the law firm as well as law office operations. She plans and controls the firm's finances, identifies the changing needs of the firm, plans marketing strategies and shares the information with the partners. She is responsible for human resources management, financial management, information systems, and facilities management. Karen's vision and leadership has successfully guided the firm through many years of steady and profitable growth, even during the downturn of the economy. Fortunate to have overcome adversity on her road to success in both her personal and professional life, Karen felt it her purpose to give back. During runs with a close friend, Karen formed a vision -- every woman no matter where in her journey deserves the education, resources, and encouragement to achieve success. With no more than a mailing list and a vision Karen launched Sisters U on February 18, 2011 with over fifty women in attendance. Sisters U is dedicated to creating and sustaining community, advocating for the sustainability of local businesses and is passionate in their efforts to raise money and support local nonprofits. |
