  • Protect Working Families and Create Local Jobs.

Bob introduced the Made in California program in 2011 to put Californians back to work, combat growing income inequality and stubbornly high unemployment, and protect the working families and middle class of California. Bob's Made in California program continues to serve as a plan to keep California the worldwide leader in innovation, technology, and job creation. The program has already seen success in creating jobs by expanding California's manufacturing, increasing access to workforce training, and providing tax credits for small businesses.

  • Fight for Affordable Higher Education.

Student loan debt is increasingly destabilizing the finances of California students and young workers. Over the past decade the number of California undergraduates taking out student loans has increased by 75% leading to more students graduating in debt. This follows the national trend of student loan debt, which has recently topped $1 trillion. To address this alarming trend Bob has introduced legislation that ensures Cal Grant funds go to colleges and universities that demonstrate quality, and graduate students with manageable student debt levels. Bob's plan will create incentives for manageable loan repayment plans that include a prohibition on wage garnishment.

  • Ensure the Rights and Dignity of Seniors.

Bob introduced a Resident's Bill of Rights for seniors living in residential care home facilities to address concerns of treatment of seniors. This comprehensive legislation will strengthen the rights of seniors, and give them more choices concerning the treatment and care that they receive. It will guarantee the right to privacy for all seniors residing in care facilities, and ensure that more seniors are treated with the respect and dignity that they deserve.

  • Protect Personal Financial Information.

Recent massive data breaches have compromised millions of customers' financial data, and a report from California's Attorney General reveals that California is a major target for cyber criminals. Bob is committed to addressing this threat, and increasing protections for your personal financial information. Bob has introduced legislation to help protect consumer information in the event of a business data breach. The legislation will increase consumer privacy, ensure appropriate fraud and identity theft protections, and safeguard against the exploitation of personal information. It will keep businesses from storing sensitive personal data, and in the event of a data breach, require business to reimburse all of the cost caused by the breach.

  • Promote Clean Technology.

Bob is a leader in promoting clean technology to protect our environment and create new local jobs. He has been named TechAmerica legislator of the year for his continued championing of California as the world's innovation center. Bob has stood out as a true leader of the technology sector by working to ensure that tech continues to thrive and grow within the state. He understands the critical role that technology plays in our current economic recovery, as well as its importance to California's economic future. By promoting clean technology and job growth here in California, Bob is committed to strengthening our economy and putting more people back to work.
