Health Care

By Christopher "Chris" Mitchum

Candidate for United States Representative; District 24

This information is provided by the candidate
We need to repeal ObamaCare before it implodes.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Obamacare to the rest of us, MUST be repealed. The bill is not about healthcare; it's about the biggest power grab by the US government in our history. It is wrought with new taxes and heavy regulations, the shadow of which has stifled business growth. It is the biggest single item blocking economic recovery.

The United States has the best healthcare in the world, but it is too expensive. Coupled with repealing Obama Care, which raises costs even more, there are steps that must be done at once to actually help reduce the cost of care in this country.

Tort reform is first and foremost. The cost of malpractice insurance is astronomical. "Malpractice" must be redefined and limits set on lawsuits. If that is done, the battery of expensive and unnecessary tests and exams that are now done to shield a doctor or hospital from a malpractice suit will vanish. Only those things necessary will be done. The doctor's insurance rates will tumble and the savings passed on to the patients.

Insurance companies must be able to compete freely, nationwide. Fair competition will both lower rates and allow an insurance policy to follow the holder when he/she moves to another state.
