Questions & Answers

1. In this time of high unemployment and budget deficits, what are the most important steps that should be taken to improve our nation’s economy and sustain job creation?

Companies are automating more and more, investing in computers and robots instead of jobs. Yet, we need more teachers, social workers and infrastructure workers. It's up to the federal, state and local governments to work together to provide those jobs.

2. What, if any, changes should be made to federal health care policies or programs?

Some form of basic Medicare should be provided for all, with options to purchase additional levels of health care and insurance.

3. What are your priorities with respect to our nation’s energy policy?

Encouragement of alternative energy sources. A carbon tax on existing energy producers. Clean up and/or phase out of the worst polluters.

4. What, if any, changes should be made with respect to our nation’s security, including our national defense or anti-terrorism measures?

Return to reasonable, legal surveillance methods. Continuing cooperation with other nations and continuing efforts to prevent conflicts. Quick and effective response to any threats to our country and our allies.

5. What is your position on the issue of immigration reform? What, if any, changes to legislation or policy would you support?

I support a path to citizenship for those who are here illegally but have shown themselves to be good citizens. At the same time, we need to do a better job of keeping track of those immigrants and visitors who are in our country legally.
