? 1. How would you prioritize the fiscal choices the Legislature must make to align the state’s income and spending?

Answer from Susan A. Bonilla:

We must make meaningful investments in infrastructure and education, while also working diligently to keep our fiscal house in order. I am a strong supporter of the rainy day fund and the work that has been done to balance our state budget.

? 2. Given our current drought condition, concern for water rights and usage is an important issue. What solutions would you support to address our water problems?

Answer from Susan A. Bonilla:

We must do much more to improve conservation as well as storage efforts. I support and voted for the Water Bond + Proposition 1 + which will be the first major step in years to address this critical problem.

? 3. California high school students rank lower than many states in student performance. What do you see as the ongoing role of the Legislature in addressing this problem?

Answer from Susan A. Bonilla:

We must do more to support students in our state. I support the boost in education funding provided by Proposition 30, and I support its extension. We must ensure that our local schools have the funding they need to reduce class size, utilize technology in the classroom, and provide the most rigorous college and career preparation opportunities that students need.

? 4. What other major issues do you think the Legislature must address? What are your own priorities?

Answer from Susan A. Bonilla:

My legislative focus has been on keeping our budget balanced and building our rainy day fund, while working to support investment in public education and improving job opportunities in our region.
