Frank Pugh, a board member in the Santa Rosa City Schools District in Sonoma County, is the 2010 President of the California School Boards Association.

He is also a full-time instructor and counselor for Santa Rosa Junior College and currently lectures for the departments of Electronics, Applied Technology and Counseling.

Pugh has worked as a technician in the electronics industry, and started his teaching career as an electronics instructor at the Naval Weapons Laboratory at Point Loma, California. He has also taught electronic technology courses for various industries, as well as in the military, Southwestern Community College, San Diego State University and Porterville High School. In 1979 he began his teaching career at Santa Rosa Junior College. He has taught courses ranging from applied mathematics to advanced graduate seminars in electronics. His primary research interests are in industrial automation controls.

After receiving tenure at SRJC, Pugh became an occupational representative to the faculties' academic senate. Later, he was elected to a two-year term as President of the Academic Senate, then was re-elected to this position two additional terms, serving as President for a total of six years.

He has authored seven textbooks and four magazine articles in the area of electronic technology. He has also created several recipes for Sunset Magazine and was twice named "Chef of the West." Cooking has turned out to be one of his favorite hobbies.

In 1990, Pugh was elected to the Santa Rosa City Schools Board of Education a K-12 district serving 23 schools. He has participated on various district committees and was elected to the position of Board President for four terms.

Pugh is active in CSBA, serving on the Delegate Assembly since 1993. He completed his Masters in Governance and was also a member of the Higher Education Remediation Task Force, CENIC and CIF Board of Managers. He has participated in many CSBA professional development workshops and trainings.

He has also participated as a member of the Sonoma County Committee School District Organization, Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce Education Steering Committee, member of the Board of Directors of CENIC, executive member of the Sonoma County School Trustees Association, and other various regional educational advisory committees.

Pugh lives in Santa Rosa with his wife Ann; they have two daughters, Caroline and Elizabeth and son-in-law Ryan.
