Vote Lewke- Save Mt Umunhum Radar TowerThis November 4th, four of the 7 Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District Board of Directors are up for re-election. Of those four, two candidates have emerged for Wards 1 and 6. Both these candidates are strongly in favor of saving and preserving the historic Radar Tower atop Mt. Umunhum, the last vestige of the former Almaden Air Force Station. The Tower serves as a strong visible landmark in the Bay Area and the only reminder of the importance of the Cold War's impact to our society. On behalf of the USAF veterans of the 682nd Radar Squadron who served and lived atop Mt. Umunhum, we officially endorse these two candidates. Please see their Facebook Pages below. Remember to vote for them in November if you live in their wards and have it on your ballot. NOTE: The 682nd Radar Squadron Veterans group is not an official non-profit group and, as such, can endorse candidates for political elections. |
