Platform: Why I am running and what three issues are most important to me and why.....

  • I am running to follow through with the slogan and actions I first used to drive our city budget into a "Live within our means" measurement. I am also willing to devote the time and energy to continue to represent our Roblans thoughts and desires for our town for another four years. o After eight years of representation on our council, I have gained the experience that must be present to understand and deliberate issues that will come before the city. Not to overspend and drain our city reserves must be a council priority moving forward. o With 37 years of practice, I am a financially responsible small business owner that understands the need to have a conservative approach to using precious public tax dollars. Our departure from the recent recession is not far behind and the additional revenue the city will see in coming years must be used to return public services to what they were before and not to increased wages. Main issues:

  • Promote economic development o As a Chamber Board member, I learned that collaborative relationships between our City and Business Community are critical for a healthy city economy. I support our agricultural small town heritage, along with our evolving tourism offerings. Encouraging local enterprise to give our visitors a richly unique experience and special knowledge of Paso Robles is a goal that I firmly support and one that in turn helps to stabilize employment for our city wage earners. A strong business environment will supply our city with the important sales tax revenue; revenue that drives the many public services like our police, fire, library and recreational departments. Roblans expect a safe place to live, work and play;

  • Enhance public safety (specifically police + drug/gang enforcement) o Roblans need to feel safe in a town they call home. I voted to implement additional police officers to increase patrol, added drug/gang Police teams with a K-9 unit, code enforcement, additional dispatchers, ordered replacement fire engines and police vehicles to give our emergency service folks the tools they need to keep them and us safe. I fully supported ordinances that gave our Police more tools by which to control questionable activities such as aggressive solicitation, aggressive animals, and massage parlors. I will continue to uphold all decisions that keep us protected.

  • Improve/restore infrastructure/facility maintenance o I will follow through on a promise to use the 1/2cent sales tax revenue strictly to repair our aging streets and roadways. I supported our new sewer treatment plant and Nacimiento water treatment plant construction projects that will give our City more self-reliance with our natural resources. Maintaining our city buildings, park facilities, and public areas have been reduced to save precious tax dollars, as we begin to have a larger budget, we must spend these dollars for the citizens benefit and not employee labor increases, I will not support any further increases until our city gets back to prerecession levels of service.
