Dr. Hall holds a Bachelors of Science from Bradley University in Illinois, a PhD from Ohio State University and a Post Doctoral Fellowship from UCLA. At Bradley she graduated with honors after completing her BS in an almost record two years, working as a research associate in plant development and cyclic AMP. After graduation she taught high school Biology and Chemistry, before going on to Ohio State University where she was awarded her PhD in Molecular Biology and Zoology. Her research at OSU was in mutation and genetic repair after damage by pesticides and DNA repair and species lifespan. The former, in conjunction with the EPA, helped in two pesticides, taken off the market in the United States. The latter research in aging won her the Young Investigators Award for Research and was nationally recognized as an important piece in the field of aging. She was invited to join the lab of the prestigious Dr. Walford, a pioneer in the field of aging, at the University of California in Los Angeles for post doctoral research and later an adjunct professorship where her work in aging and genetic damage resulted in the publication of twelve peer-reviewed scientific research papers, thirty-eight proceeding papers, four chapters in textbooks on genetic damage and edited one book in developmental biology. Besides teaching high school Dr. Hall was an instructor at Ohio State University and University of California in Los Angeles. Dr. Hall has also been a successful small business owner. She has been an active public speaker presenting over a hundred invited talks, radio and television appearances and private seminars for national leaders such as Royal Sultan of Malaysia; appearing in over fifty magazine and newspaper articles including two covers of national magazines, The Good Morning America TV Show and an Interview with Dr. Joyce Brothers. Dr. Hall went on to open two more successful companies with her husband resulting in the award of seven successful patents. When environmental problems became a concern in California, Dr. Hall became Director for a non-profit public coalition of over 100 environmental companies; directed their administrative, public policy and lobby campaign. She worked with California State Legislature, Senator Richard Polanco, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and Fortune 100 presidents to develop standards for Southern California, testifying as an expert witness before the California Legislature. She was nominated to a Governor's committee by the president of Arco, the Vice Chancellor of University of California, Riverside, Senator Polanco and the Chairman of the County Board of Supervisors, Los Angeles. After a move to New York, Dr. Hall worked with Dr. John Brademas, President Emeritus of NYU and 20-year term congressman Majority Whip from Indiana to develop the Center for Congressional Studies at NYU. Dr. Hall currently lives in Paso Robles and is the mother of two successful sons. She often works in the community with small children who have difficulty in math and English. She is the Board President of the proposed Cuesta Charter High School Academy and previously served as Finance Director on the Almond Acres Charter Board. Besides living in Paso Robles, Dr. Hall and her husband maintain a home in Mazatlan, Mexico. In Mazatlan, she has worked with the Ciudad De Ninos, a local orphanage and she and her husband have sponsored a baseball team for the children of Mazatlan. Kathleen is a strong believer of both the potential of our students and excellence in education. |
