Candidate for
Board Member; Lakeside Fire Protection District

I was born into a family of firefighters in La Mesa, California and I've lived in Lakeside for 31 years.

I've managed fires, emergencies, personnel, stations, Battalions, Divisions, Ranger Units and programs throughout the Western States for California Department of Forestry (Cal Fire) for 38 years; retiring as an Assistant Chief. I was a Chief Officer and peace officer for CDF for 23 of those years; working in Orange County/CDF Fire (ORCO FIRE) as a Battalion Chief and Santa Clara CDF Ranger Unit as a Division Chief.

As a Battalion Chief in ORCO my "Battalion" consisted of six stations comprised of 40 CDF Firefighters and 150 ORCO FIRE Paid Call Volunteer Firefighters. The staffing at the six stations varied between fully paid CDF Firefighters or combined ORCO Paid Call Volunteers and CDF personnel; to fully staffed by Paid Call Volunteers.

Each station was located in a different community like the cities of Tustin, Villa Park, Orange, and Communities of Cowen Heights, Olive and Red Hill. I worked with their City managers and Fire Boards all the time.

Santa Clara Ranger Unit was located just East of San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Oakland, San Jose and included 6 counties. I worked with several Boards during that assignment.

My current position as "Volunteer Liaison Officer" with Lakeside Fire District, over the past two years, has allowed me to know and understand the workings within the Fire Department including the Fire District Board. I know and understand the programs underway which will allow improved fiscal, operational and improved communications within the Department.

Conclusions: During the last four years I've organized two Fire Safe Councils in Lakeside and Chair one of them.

I work on Board of Supervisor Dianne Jacob "Lakeside Revitalization Committee" (Public Safety Committee).

I represent the Lakeside Chamber of Commerce on CSA#69, Ambulance / Paramedic Advisory Board.

I chair the Cedar Fire Monument Committee for Lakeside Fire District.

I sit on Board of Directors for Eucalyptus Hills Landowners Association.
