Position Statement

By Eduardo Reyes

Candidate for Board Member; Chula Vista Elementary School District; Seat 5

This information is provided by the candidate
As a CVESD board member, I will ensure a fiscal responsible budget that focuses on the needs of students by working with all stakeholders.
During the 22 years in I have spent in education, I have worked in the K-12 system, adult school, Career and Technical Education (ROP), and college/university levels. I have worked as a teacher, coordinator, program manager, adjunct professor, assistant principal, and principal. I have a deep understanding of the needs of students and what it takes to help them be successful.

As your board member, I would continue to work on closing the achievement gap and promoting a culture of inclusiveness and equity for students and staff by building consensus and by collaborating with all stakeholders.

I strongly believe district resources need to be used directly for student achievement. I plan to ensure the district has a fiscally responsible budget. I will bring financial stability to the district by assuring funds are used adequately through an honest and transparent process.

I will implement educational programs that promote academic and life skills and not solely focus on passing standardized tests. I believe in the potential of all children and I know that positive change is a collective endeavor.

I will work hard to ensure Chula Vista Elementary School District provides and education that meets that needs of the 21st century. I respectfully ask for your vote on Tuesday, November 4.
