Full Biography for Karen Marie Otter

I was born and raised in the East County of San Diego, California. I even attended Chase Avenue Elementary. After graduating from Monte Vista High School in Spring Valley in 1983, I enlisted in the United States Army and served as a Pershing Missile Crewman. I also received additional training for and was awarded the additional military occupational specialty of Legal Clerk. The discipline and training of the Army ingrained in me a superior work ethic and responsibility to service. Assigned to Army nuclear missile units in Oklahoma and Germany, I found truly remarkable the dedication to service of my fellow soldiers. As a sergeant, I performed in areas of Operations including the grave responsibility of receipt and retransmission of fire orders. After leaving the military, I worked in increasingly responsible areas of administration and management. In 2011, I completed my college education and earned an Executive Juris Doctor degree. I now work as a paralegal in a law firm that specializes in homeowners associations law. As the mother of two sons who attended East County schools, I know first-hand the harm that the government can inflict upon our public education and health care systems. I have a serious responsibility to my sons to lead by example, to speak out against irresponsible government and to ensure a good quality of life for all citizens. I was born in El Cajon and I have raised my remarkable sons here. We acknowledge the importance of education and good citizenship. My brother also lives in El Cajon and is a corrections officer for California. My grandparents lived in neighboring Mt Helix for over fifty years. I bring determination, discipline and dedication to all I do. I am proud to be from El Cajon and I would be proud to serve you on the Cajon Valley Union School Board. |
