EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

Simeon Greenstein is a graduate of the University of California San Diego, having spent his junior year at Dartmouth College. He pursued his graduate studies at San Diego State University where he earned a Master's degree in Educational Administration. He also completed programs in curriculum, school policy, and governance through the Association of California School Administrators Harvard Summer Principals Academy and the California School Leadership Academy (CSLA).

ABOUT SIMEON GREENSTEIN:

During their four decades living in coastal North County, Simeon and Barbara Greenstein have benefited from and contributed to the area's excellent educational programs.

In 2014, Simeon retired from the San Dieguito Union High School District after 36 years as a site administrator and teacher. He served for five years as the fourth principal of Torrey Pines High School and three years as the planning and founding principal of La Costa Canyon High School. He also spent several years as assistant principal at Oak Crest Junior High, San Dieguito High School, and Torrey Pines. During the 1998-99 school year Simeon served as Executive Director of Secondary Education in the Issaquah School District (Seattle area), Washington.

Simeon Greenstein's most pleasurable experiences occurred in district classrooms as a history teacher. Most gratifying were the relationships that were forged over the years with students, parents, and inspiring staff members. As a lifelong learner of history, he delighted in sharing lessons from the past while speculating about the future. As Mr. Greenstein reflects on the many friendships formed, he marvels at the extraordinary goodness and human kindness of the people he has met.

Simeon's wife Barbara retired in 2013 after 30 gratifying years at MiraCosta College, where she was coordinator of the college's assessment programs including math and English placement testing, GED, and the Academic Proctoring Centers.

The Greensteins' three adult children have been fortunate to experience exceptional educational opportunities at Ocean Knoll Elementary, Oak Crest Middle School, La Costa Canyon High School, and San Dieguito and Canyon Crest Academies. Their daughter Samantha teaches Science at Earl Warren Middle School and was named Teacher of the Year for the San Dieguito District in 2013.
