Dear Friends,

I am honored to have received the sole endorsement from the San Jose Mercury News Editorial Board for my Seat 2 for this November 4, 2014 election:
"We think it's time to stop the revolving door. In Seat 2, Nadeem is a professor of business administration who would bring that expertise, a long record of service on foundations and commissions and a broad commitment to civic life. I intend to bring a fresh and diverse perspective to the City Council based on many years of proven leadership, relevant experience and sound judgment. I have an amazing wife, Sarah, and we're proud parents of our lovely children. Sarah and I have lived in Santa Clara for the last 22 years. We absolutely love this City. Santa Clara is where we work, our children went to School, play in the parks, and go to libraries. I want to give back to this city I happily call my home.

Over the last 19 years, I have worked in Silicon Valley in the IT industry and academia. I am humbled for the opportunity to serve-to-lead the residents of Santa Clara. In 2013, I received 'Fulbright Scholar' grant award
from the US Dept of State.

1. Influence of Public Policy on Governance: Is there a Role for Shareholders as Stakeholders?

ABSTRACT: This study examines whether corporations should operate solely to maximize shareholder value or to serve a more broadly defined, diverse set of social interests. This paper reviews how American public policy toward corporations has rested upon different answers to this question, from colonial times to the twenty-first century. This study offers a strikingly new diagnosis of the corporate governance, and lessons to be learned for global corporations.

This study investigates how a strong stakeholder reputation is widely acknowledged to be the most valuable asset of a firm (Peloza, et al, 2012) and why sustainability has become an important component of corporate reputation.
