Candidate for
Council Member; City of Mountain View

Ellen Kamei is a committed and passionate public servant.

A native to Silicon Valley, Ellen has deep roots in Mountain View spanning back three generations. Growing up, she spent much of her childhood in Mountain View and Morgan Hill on the family owned and operated flowering growing business. Her grandparents were residents and property owners of Mountain View for over seventy years. Kenzo Court in the Waverly Park neighborhood is named in honor of Ellen's grandfather.

Currently, Ellen is a Policy Aide to Supervisor Joe Simitian, Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, District 5. Her portfolio includes the Children, Seniors, and Families Committee; Social Media and Outreach; and Social Services. Prior to the County, Ellen worked for the City of Fremont as an International City/County Management Association Local Government Management Fellow and the federal government for Congresswomen Anna G. Eshoo and Zoe Lofgren. She serves on numerous boards and is the current Vice Chair of the City of Mountain View's Environmental Planning Commission. She is also a 2012 graduate of Leadership Mountain View.

Ellen completed her Master's Degree in Public Administration and a Certificate in Politics in May 2011 from the University of Pennsylvania's Fels Institute of Government. During this time, Ellen was a Summer Analyst for the City of New York's Mayor's Office of Operation and a Graduate Intern with the City of Philadelphia's Human Services Agency. Ellen attended the University of California, Santa Barbara where she was a student athlete on the Rowing Team. She received a B.A. in English.
