1. What experience related to city government would you bring to the City Council?
Answer from Steve Tate:
Sixteen years on City Council, eight as Mayor. Prior to that, seven years on Planning Commission. Very proud of my extensive experience and track record.
2. What concerns are of particular importance to the city and how would you address them?
Answer from Steve Tate:
Growing in a way that preserves our small-town atmosphere and spirit of community. We are in the middle of a General Plan update and managing that in a way that very heavy emphasis is placed on our community values, etc. Also, our efforts to increase vitality in downtown by making it a destination is being done with emphasis on preserving Morgan Hill's character.
3. How would you balance the needs of the City as a whole with groups' interests?
Answer from Steve Tate:
Great question, the overall well-being of the community should always take precedence, but we also need to work with every interest group to find ways to collaborate and hopefully find mutually agreeable approaches. Our staff works very hard on listening and collaborating, establishing ownership among our residents and interest groups.
