As a former City of Eastvale employee, I'm also aware that the Public Safety Commission was on the verge of being dissolved due to the lack of support from some of the members on the current Council. When elected in November, I will work to ensure that Public Safety remain THE top priority of the Council. We can be and will be the next safety city in California. Eastvale's crime statistics have been on the rise due to the amount of "petty crimes" as some may call them, and lack of law enforcement presence. When asked about crime in Eastvale, I promised to never look at a crime committed as "petty." Any crime committed in this City CAN be prevented as long as our local government is proactive in communicating with our residents and notifying our law enforcement of the crimes committed and the locations to patrol more. As a Council Member, my goal will be to have a .5 - 1 officer per 1000 residents ratio. This ratio is a definite possibility as long as we continue to keep Public Safety our top priority and renegotiate contracts with RSO. My family moved to Eastvale in 2008 because of how community-minded the residents were. Although we were stilll a part of Riverside County then, we truly believed that Eastvale was one of the safest cities in Riverside County to raise a family. Our current Eastvale PD has done a great job with the lack of funding given, but there is room for improvement with response time and overall safety. There have been many incidents that have occurred in our young City these past few months and the lack of action by our government officials is not acceptable. We need to be more proactive and understand that families are looking for safe cities to live in and the media cannot continue to portray Eastvale as a "marijuana grow house City' or a "violent City" to live in. It is my priority to give Eastvale the true identity that we deserve, as well as keeping the community involved in our public safety making decisions. My plans for Public Safety are to ensure that our contracts with Riverside County be renegotiated to NOT impact the community in a bad way, but increase law enforcement presence as well as ensure that our City receives all RSO and Fire can offer. |
