Candidate for
Board Member; Huntington Beach Union High School District

I have lived in Huntington Beach for 30 years. My hometown is Costa Mesa. I have been married for 40 years and have 2 grown sons and one grandchild. My husband, sons and daughter-in law are proud graduates of Huntington Beach High School. I received my B.A. in Psychology and Education at the College of Idaho in December 1973. My Master's in Special Education is from Chapman University. I worked for the Garden Grove Unified School District from September 1974 until July 2011. I taught Special Education, English (all levels), English Language Learners and served as the Title One Coordinator and Activities Director at Los Amigos High School in Fountain Valley.

I have been a lifelong community volunteer. I have volunteered at my church, PTA, Athletic Booster Groups, Working Wardrobes, HB Art Center, School on Wheels and currently lead an outreach ministry to Perry Elementary School in Huntington Beach.

I am currently serving as the UCI Town and Gown President, treasurer of the CalRTA Harbor area, treasurer of the Epsilon Omicron Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, AREA XIV Director for CHI State of Delta Kappa Gamma, ruling elder at Christ Pres Church, Huntington Beach, tutoring for School on Wheels and serving on the TECH TREK committee of the AAUW TRi-Cities Chapter. I am also a P.E.O. member.
