Transparency and Openness promotes Accountability and provides information for citizens about what their Local Government is doing. Public engagement enhances the City Council's effectiveness and improves the quality of its decisions. Collaboration actively engages Citizens in the work of their Local Government. In closed Local Government there is temptation for corruption because there is no oversight and accountability.Transparency and Openness promotes Accountability and provides information for citizens about what their Local Government is doing. In closed Local Government there is temptation for corruption because there is no oversight and accountability. I recognize that municipalities and counties are at different stages in their efforts to promote openness in government, and that I pursue an approach consistent with our national priorities and circumstances and the aspirations of our citizens. I acknowledge that citizens and residents of Mission Viejo, Orange County and the whole United States of America are demanding more openness , transparency and accountability in government. They are calling for greater civic participation in public affairs, and seeking avenues to make their government at all levels more open, transparent, responsive, accountable, efficient and effective. I accept responsibility for seizing this moment in our City's history to strengthen our commitments to promote transparency and openness, fight corruption, empower citizens, and harness the power of science and new cutting-edge technologies to make government more effective and accountable. I uphold the value of openness in our engagement with residents and citizens to improve services, manage public resources, promote innovation, and create a safer community. I embrace principles of transparency and open government with a view toward achieving greater prosperity, well-being, and human dignity in our own great City of Mission Viejo as well as throughout Orange County and the State of California. My fellow Americans, Friends, Residents and Citizens this is my solemn and honest pledge to you. If you believe that we the people deserve a better government through openness, transparency and public participation and better days ahead, then please cast your vote on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 for DESI JOSEPH KISS (# 8 on the Ballot).
