Public SafetyBy Eugene W. FieldsCandidate for Mayor; City of Orange | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
My views on Police and FireOrange continues to top the list of Safest Cities in America with 100,000 or more residents. But as Orange grows, the police and fire departments need to continue to grow to meet the needs. I am in favor of: Fully staffing police and fire departments - With an expected increase in property and sales tax revenue, I would support adding three (3) officers to the streets over the next five (5) years, which would make the ratio of residents to officers on the streets, 1,000/1. I am against outsourcing public safety services. I am in favor of changing the pension system for new employees to have them pay more into their pension. Encouraging first responders to gain additional training and education Strengthening Neighborhood Watch programs to work with police Funding safety programs Enacting laws to protect women and children from sex offenders who live in or visit the City of Orange |
