Here are my three priorities for the next 4 years:
- Public Safety + it's important that residents feel safe in Salinas. I continue to advocate for public safety, and ensure they get the resources they need to do their jobs successfully. Better training and tools, more community outreach, and public engagement will lead to better policing and quieter, safer neighborhoods.
- Business in Salinas + I've worked extensively with Westridge Shopping Center, Harden Ranch Plaza, Northridge Mall, and the Salinas Auto Mall to ensure they're thriving. We need the sales tax revenue from successful
shopping centers and restaurants to pay for police, fire, libraries, parks, and road improvements. Northridge Mall is slated for a $20 million renovation, and I'm already working with them to make sure their planning and permitting goes smoothly with the City.
- Fiscal Responsibility + We have a City that struggles financially. Making sure we use that money as carefully as possible, ensures we're prioritizing it where residents need it most. We have a responsibility to use our budget strategically, and base it on a priority system of the most significant needs of Salinas.
