In 1968, Norgeris and Luis Benitez arrived in America with their daughter, Alitza, in search of The American Dream. In Alitza's adulthood she worked alongside Norgeris in the fashion industry while Luis worked in the printing industry. As life moved on, Alitza met and later married a young, ambitious law student named John Lewis with both having completed their education at Cerritos College. They then established roots in the City of La Mirada and began raising their only son, Zurich.

With this heritage and support, I learned the value of education and serving others.

As a lifetime resident of La Mirada, I have served my community through my church, the Rotary Club, Meals on Wheels, as a Youth Tennis Coach, and as Vice-Chair of the La Mirada City Community Services Commission.
