Candidate Ballot Statement

By Brent Trublood

Candidate for Council Member; City of Concord

This information is provided by the candidate
Here is a list of my priorities along with a short biography and my vision for the future of Concord.
Concord's Greatest Challenges: The $7-million structural budget deficit and $9-million in unfunded liabilities that include unpaid pensions, city repairs, and deferred road maintenance need addressing NOW! If elected, I will work to
  • Balance the Budget
  • Make education a priority
  • Protect open space and improve the quality of life

Public & Private Sectors: I have worked in customer service and as an auditor for Costco for 7 years. While working full-time I went back to school and earned my Bachelor's and Master's degrees at San Francisco State.

Career: I have been a teacher in the Mt. Diablo school district for 15 years. I sit on my school site budget oversight committee and on the Mt. Diablo Education Association board that reviews budgets. I am currently serving on the Economic Opportunity Council and on the Restoration Advisory Board for the Naval Weapons Station.

Personal: I am married to Lori, a medical administrator at Oakland's Children's Hospital. Together, we have one grown daughter. Yes, we are "empty nesters". I grew up in Concord and graduated from Concord High School, which was also where I had my first teaching assignment. I am a member of the Concord Historical Society and Friends of the Concord Library.

Other Issues: I support Concord's small business owners and would have voted to repeal the triple-fee schedule on home-based businesses. A top priority is to make sure Concord Naval Weapons Station development would have proper traffic mitigation, housing/commercial/open space protection, and safeguards for fire, police, and schools.

My vision for Concord's future includes:

  • Safe Neighborhoods
  • Balanced Budgets
  • Open Space & Quality of Life
  • City/Schools Partnership

I believe we need to hold elected officials more accountable. If you have any questions, please call me at my home - 203-0938.
