As Mayor and Councilmember, I will continue to:
Uphold the General Plan and Voter-Approved Moraga Open Space Ordinance
- Enforce and strengthen the General Plan's directive to "Protect ridgelines from development."
- Support land use policies that steer development away from sensitive open space areas.
- Vote to protect Moraga's remaining open ridgelines from development. I was the only
Councilmember in 2011 who voted to oppose ridgeline homes in the Rancho Laguna II project.
- Serve on the Town's Ridgeline and Hillside Steering Committee and work to update
Moraga's open space ordinances and policies.
Exercise Fiscal Discipline
- Insist on and adopt balanced Town budgets + just like the last eight years.
- Pursue two-tiered/defined contribution pension reform system for new Town employees.
Develop Solutions for Maintaining Essential Town Infrastructure
- Ensure that all Measure K one-cent sales tax revenues are spent on maintaining
neighborhood streets, storm drains and other critical infrastructure.
- Support the three-year (2013-2015) plan to repair all neighborhood streets in Town.
- Served on the 2009 Moraga Revenue Enhancement Committee and developed a
roadmap for future financing and repair of Town roads and storm drains.
Shape and Implement the Approved Moraga Center Specific Plan
- Implement the Plan's vision, while minimizing impacts on existing neighborhoods.
- Revitalize our two commercial areas and work to create new energy in the heart of Moraga.
- Provide pedestrian-friendly residential and senior housing around our shopping centers.
- Support locally-owned and operated businesses and the Moraga Chamber of Commerce.
Enhance Recreational Opportunities for All Moragans
- Work with the Moraga School District, Campolindo High School, St. Mary's College and sports groups
to upgrade playing fields and facilities, especially at JM and Campolindo.
- Support joint use agreements between the Town and schools to optimize use of facilities.
- Approved use of Town's Measure WW funds to upgrade Camino Pablo fields.
- Support efforts to refurbish and open up the Hacienda de las Flores to greater public use.
- Plan for community gym and other needed facilities
Historical Preservation
- Support a new ordinance to protect and preserve Moraga's historical buildings for future generations to
enjoy, including the Hacienda and Rheem Theatre.
