WHO I AM AND WHY I DESERVE YOUR VOTE

I made Martinez my home 22 years ago because of the quaint downtown, the waterfront, the open spaces, parks and schools. I am married to Suzanne Hatch and we have raised our four daughters in Martinez. All have attended Alhambra High School with the youngest graduating next spring.

Soon after making Martinez my chosen home town I became active in the local community. I was raised in a family that taught me that community service and giving back is an important part of life. I began by organizing my neighborhood to urge the city to beef up code and traffic enforcement. I then was a member of the Mayors Blue Ribbon Budget Committee that was charged with finding creative solutions to the city's budget problems in the early 1990's. I was then a member of the Planning Commission for two years followed by a successful run for City Council in 1996. I was elected Mayor in 2002.

I am level headed and focused on getting things done for Martinez. There is no room in city government for petty squabbling or personal agendas. I have the experience required; I am a team player and a proven leader. We have accomplished much under my leadership but need to stay focused and work together to get things done during this improving economy. We cannot waste this opportunity for our community playing politics.
