unleye Candidate for Pittsburg City Council, Nov. 4, 2014 Candidate's Statement of purpose and position Thank you for supporting me as current Director and Vice President of Los Medanos Community Healthcare District (LMCHD) Board located in Pittsburg. We cannot continue to do the same things and expect a different result. We must reject minimization, celebrate our diversity, and respect elderly advice. Like never before, we needs to be transparent, listen, respect, end complacency, and respond to the needs of our citizenry. Pittsburg needs fresh voices, new set of eyes, and goal getters that will infuse new energy into. In preparation for Pittsburg City council, I served as: Commissioner + Community Advisory Commission Committee Member + Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Committee Member + Measure P Oversight CA State Graduate Certificate in Special District Governance - Completed 2013 CA State Masters Certification in Leadership - Completed 2013 My priorities include: 1. Stop youth brain drain by enhancing our schools and colleges with vocational/career technical training for tomorrow's industries. 2. To mitigate high unemployment and stagnant small business growth, I proposing making Pittsburg City an innovation hub that will enhancing industry specific training programs and provide small businesses with public and private joint ventures opportunities. 3. As Vice President of LMCHD Board, I am aware of the existing health disparities in Pittsburg, and City Council members must respond to the people's mandate to alleviate health disparities and improve quality of life. 4. I will support an all stake holders inclusive and fiscally responsible budget that eliminates waste.
5. I will propose a broadened Police and Fire services tailored to prevent crime by engaging various aspects of the Pittsburg community. 7. City of Pittsburg has great developers and has seen beautiful home built but the average resident cannot afford them due to the lack vision to foster local well paying jobs. 8. Allocated Redevelopment Funds were spent to restructure and reface downtown Pittsburg with the hope of revitalization of the city but failed to create sustainable resources for the residents and community friendly programs to encourage neighbourhood participation locally or city wide. 9. We need to fix our existing residential neighbourhood streets, sidewalks, and parks so all can benefit in a truly progressive Pittsburg. 10. We must save lives and prevent environmentally unsafe and destructive projects without adequate community discussion and Environmental Impact Studies. No business advantage measures up to or worth a devastating impact on the health, safety, and quality of life of Pittsburg residents. I would appreciate your vote on November 4th, 2014. |
