Political Philosophy for Aimee Moss

It has been tremendously rewarding to serve WCSD's students and families for the past seven years. I would be honored to be elected as a member of the Walnut Creek School District Governing Board. My priorities are: 1) Rigorous academics that build 21st century skills Providing a rigorous curriculum is the heart of what our schools do. As the new Common Core State Standards are implemented, I will prioritize continued training of teachers and staff so that they have the knowledge and resources they need to give our students the best education possible. I will also work to improve communication between parents and teachers in order to build a true partnership supporting student learning. 2) Smaller class sizes and relief for overcrowded schools Population growth in Walnut Creek has led to schools that are filled beyond capacity. We must protect quality academics and improve student safety. I will prioritize hiring the best staff, soliciting community feedback, and supporting the creation of the new school and its community as we prepare for its opening in 2015. 3) Transparent fiscal oversight The implementation of the Local Control Funding Formula provides tremendous opportunity to tailor our educational offerings to the needs of our community. I will closely monitor spending to ensure improved educational opportunities for all students in all schools. I will work hard to build collaboration between parent organizations and the Walnut Creek Education Foundation. Should the collaborative fundraising model be adopted, I will make sure all voices are heard and concerns are addressed to pave the way to successful implementation. I ask for your vote and look forward to continuing to serve our children. |
