Voters should decide the fate of the Wes Pac oil transporation and storage project
This is the most contentious issue to face the City of Pittsburg in recent history. While the proposed Wes Pac oil transportation and storage facility project could provide significant annual revenue and jobs for the City of Pittsburg, it also poses a possible safety threat to our citizens. This project has already divided and polarized the community into opposing factions. The City Council should be presented with the completed environmental impact report and all the facts relating to the project. Both those in favor of the project and those opposed to it, should be allowed to make their case at a public hearing. Once they have all the facts and information and have heard all the arguments for and against, the City Council should vote to hold a referendum on the project, funded by the developer, and let the voters of Pittsburg decide if the benefits outweigh the impacts. That way the voters will have spoken and both factions will know the process has been fair and above board. LET THE VOTERS DECIDE!
