Orinda Needs an Open ForumBy Linda DelehuntCandidate for Council Member; City of Orinda | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Citizens need input into the city processes. Town hall meetings and other vehicles which open up discussion to citizens and allow participation need to be implemented. The City Council of any city is enormously important to the health of the city. A well run city reflects its health through its thriving business district, well-maintained infrastructure and properly zoned residential areas. When cities show signs of decline, one needs to reflect on the general operation of the city and remedies need to be put into place immediately to correct the problem. In the case of Orinda, residents need to be heard and their opinions need to be incorporated in the final decisions that are made by the City Council. Open forums and town hall meetings need to be the norm; it is imperative that the City Council immediately and appropriately incorporate citizen input into their decision making process. |
