"I can think of no one better suited than Diane Burgis to serve on the East Bay Regional Parks District Board"

Ted Radke,Retiring Ward 7 Director, East Bay Regional Park District

My Priorities:

Preserve the Legacy of the East Bay Regional Park District

For 80 years the Park District has worked to preserve natural and cultural resources, open spaces, parks and trails. The East Bay is forever made a beautiful and lovely place to live because of that work. If elected I will preserve that legacy while bringing in fresh ideas and a new perspective with a proven background.

Proper Management and Maintenance of our Parks and Recreational Facilities for Future and Present Use

The Park District makes up of 65+ regional parks, recreation areas, wilderness, shorelines, preserves and land bank areas covering over 114,000 acres with over 1,200 miles of trails within the parklands. With environmental issues, access., fire prevention land management, safety, and proper use in mind I will work to make sure that these precious lands are managed and maintained in a responsible way to our taxpayers, our park users, and our employees.

Promoting Access to Nature for All

I am committed to equitable public access for all residents and will work to engage more people in using the parks through programs that promote health and environmental stewardship. I believe that we can and should strengthen our Stewardship efforts through more educational programs, stewardship activities, & recreational opportunities.

Advocate for Habitat Restoration

The balance between allowing access and use of our parks and open spaces, while protecting sensitive wildlife habitat is an important issue that the East Bay Regional Park Board must consider. I am a mindful advocate for more habitat restoration and support protections, including limiting access to certain areas when deemed necessary. This must be balanced with allowing the public as much access possible for education and recreation. If this is enhanced with growing interpretive, recreational & environmental stewardship programs & services we will meet community needs, and reach more district residents.
