Cesar Alvarado Candidate StatementBy César A. AlvaradoCandidate for Council Member; City of Pittsburg | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
It would be an honor to serve in the City Council for the vibrant and diverse Pittsburg community. From humble beginnings as a poor immigrant, I graduated from the University of California Berkeley and the UCLA School of Law. I was a partner in the largest law firm in Contra Costa and have served in various community organizations like the Rotary Club, the Hispanic Bar Association and others. Recently, I received a Distinguished Alumni award by the UCLA School of Management's Riordan Program + where we assist low-income students obtain professional business degrees. As a long-term Pittsburg resident, I have seen our city experience the growing pains of a major metropolitan area, while struggling to maintain its small-town values. I believe those values, such as the selfless commitment from our many parents and community volunteers who help us raise our children from little league to productive adulthood must be maintained, encouraged and supported. I hope to bring a fresh, yet qualified, voice to our city government. If elected, I pledge to work with, and for, all sectors of our community + from the individuals and small business owners at the heart of our city to our institutions and corporate partners + so that together we invest in our community. Pittsburg is a city in transition, but one with tremendous potential. With clean and secure streets, a welcoming business climate and continuous but managed growth, we can make Pittsburg a thriving city to proudly call home. Join me. Let's make Pittsburg better. |
